The MOST MODERN iteration of a classic ballet flat has ARRIVED

We’re known for designing best-in-class ballet flats (it’s been our focus since day one, with a bespoke ballerina as the very first Margaux style). The shape has retained its position as the ultimate in elegant closet versatility, and we’re constantly iterating on its next evolution. The Fonteyn was introduced to celebrate our 10th birthday: a classic, effortless, yet decidedly modern flat for today.

Overall rating: 4.6218905 / 5 from 201 reviews.

Reviews

Fonteyn Ocean Suede

"I love this shoe! The color is beautiful, and the fit is so comfortable! I initially ordered a size too large; customer service was prompt and very helpful in assisting me with my exchange. I am relatively new to Margaux shoes, and I have purchased five pairs already!"

Tanya F. (5/5)

These shoes rescued me on a work trip

"I had forgotten a pair of flats on a recent work trip, and was so grateful when I found the Fonteyn in the SF store. These were a perfect fit, perfect shape, and were exactly what I needed. Got many compliments. These sales associate was incredible helpful. Loved the space, too."

Lauren W. (5/5)

Elegant & Veratile

"I love wearing ballet flats, usually the traditional almond toe versions, and bought the Fonteyn version as an alternate. The slightly higher cut and barely squared toe is a beautiful option between a ballet flats and a loafer. They are comfortable to walk in every day and yet elegant and versatile."

Lynn L. (5/5)

Gorgina

"I love these. They needed almost no breaking in. Randomly, they do seem a little big to me? Which I was surprised by — I'm a pretty true 6, if anything more 6. 5. Also, as far as flats go they ARE very comfortable, HOWEVER, all those Vogue and Strategist and whatever reviews saying you can walk 10k steps in them must have been written by someone with VERY young knees and ankles."

Lovely flats

"These are going to be an excellent staple for fall and winter. Lovely fit and shape with nice structure. Blue/black is subtle, very nice."

Susan G. (5/5)

Perfect flat!

"These are amazing and I have never found shoes that fit me as well as these flats. I love the different size and width size you can choose from and they are wonderful"

Kathryn B. (5/5)

"I love the fit, style, and comfort of the fonteyn so much. I love the square toe detail and I really like that the back of the shoe isn’t too high. I must have a short heel/ankle becsuse the heel area of a lot of other ballet flats (i. e. FS Jada flats) are too high ok me which causes blisters and pain the back of my ankles. But Margaux shoes- especially the Fonteyn fit me perfectly. I have a wider toebox so usually take size 8W in most shoes. Took a 8M in these."

Nicole (5/5)

Beautiful shoe, fit issues

"This shoe is gorgeous and well made, however, I found it challenging from a fit perspective. The toe box is very low and rigid - it’s reinforced from the inside. As a result, it presses down on my toes. A day of wearing these caused serious pain. They do run long and I sized down half a size as recommended and I took a wide for a more comfortable toe box, but I needed more height or flexibility in the toe box."

Naama R. (4/5)

Mostly great

"Love most everything about this shoe, the 8M rubs my ankle whereas the 8N of my Demi Flats don't. i should have gotten an 8N size maybe."

Mary T. (3/5)

I wanted to love them

"I tried them on in the store and they felt fine. I saw them on the archive sale and purchased them. However, the first time I wore them I got a blister on my heel and top of one of my toes. It was a final sale so I will look for a new home for them."
