The MOST MODERN iteration of a classic ballet flat has ARRIVED

We’re known for designing best-in-class ballet flats (it’s been our focus since day one, with a bespoke ballerina as the very first Margaux style). The shape has retained its position as the ultimate in elegant closet versatility, and we’re constantly iterating on its next evolution. The Fonteyn was introduced to celebrate our 10th birthday: a classic, effortless, yet decidedly modern flat for today.

Overall rating: 4.6805553 / 5 from 144 reviews.

Reviews

The Fonteyn

"Someone has finally designed the perfect fashion ballet shoe. I absolutely love everything about them from the fit to the supple leather to the longer vamp. And the adjustable string is a must in ballet shoes for narrow feet. Beautiful shoes! And how thoughtful that a cloth bag is included to store them in."

Andrea Z. (5/5)

not fitting very well and therefore not comfortable

"To date, my heels are moving too much, I have tried a pad in the back but not there yet in terms of comfort and wearability. They are great looking ballet flats, but I am not pleased with the fit or comfort. I might have to return them, but I did wear them out to dinner one night so not sure I can return them. I really wanted them to work."

Katharine H. (2/5)

Cute party flats

"Margaux is my go to brand because of the diversity of sizes. I don’t wear heels anymore, so these gold flats were the perfect party shoe to wear to a cocktail reception. Please bring back the loafer."

Heather H. (5/5)

Fantastic Flat!

"The leather is so soft but keeps it shape. Love the color and flattering classic style. I don’t have a very wide foot but it order a wide in these shoes. I’m not sure I’ve ever ordered a wide before but glad I did. Worth the money!"

Cynthia M. (5/5)

A clean and streamlined version of Fonteyn

"Thank you Julia Berolzheimer for convincing Margaux to make a Fonteyn without a bow and without crossgrain trim! It made this silhouette more clean and streamlined! I love it! Please make something similar in black! And it doesn't have to be raffia. In terms of fit - I sized down half a size per the recommendation and bought 7. 5 M. No break-in required!"

Maria P. (5/5)

Summer Favorite

"Absolutely obsessed with these raffia ballet flats — chic, comfortable, and somehow make every outfit look effortlessly polished. If you have narrow feet, size down if in between sizes! They fit generously."

Marta G. (5/5)

Very elegant flat.

"The neutral color goes with many clothing options. Dress up or down with this shoe. Good price for the quality. They seem comfortable but I've worn them only a few times to date."

Beverley B. (5/5)

Perfectly gorgeous

"Comfortable right out of the box and just gorgeous, comfortable, and elegant. In most of Margaux shows, I take a 42, but take a 41. 5 in this style and the Demi’s."

Alexandra J. (5/5)

Best shoes!!!!

"This ballet flat is perfect! I own 3 pairs of Margaux footwear and they are all so lovely in design and structure. They are truly versatile pieces!"

Lourdes S. (5/5)

Pretty shoe, questionable functionality

"The reason I'm keeping this shoe is because I know it will go with pretty much every spring and summer outfit I wear but I really considered returning them only because the sizing seems to be off. I ordered 7. 5 Wide, which is what I usually wear in flats with Margaux but they kept sliding off. So then I exchanged for a 7 Wide and I still don't think they're wide enough and they are ok in length. But I am surprised that none fit me like the Demi flat for instance. The quality seems to be good, we'll see how they do in the long run."
