The Gaux Girl's Guide to Charleston2017-05-18
This spring we've joined The Skinny Dip at their newly-opened store and are excited to embrace the hub of activity and shopping in downtown Charleston. During our time here we're working with other independent brands and entrepreneurs to bring a new shopping experience to a historic destination.
Suffice to say; we've already fallen in love with our new home on King Street and the neighboring restaurants and shops. Walking the streets of this swoon-worthy city is a sensory dream. From the colorful architecture to the subtle smells of freshly cooked food wafting through the breeze, it's totally arresting. To further share our adoration for the city, today we bring you the gaux girl's guide to Charleston and all of its wonders. Get to know a few of our favorite spots for a bit of travel inspiration - or perhaps your next weekend getaway.
The Dewberry - 334 Meeting St, Charleston, SC 29403
The recently-opened Dewberry Hotel is a work of decorative art: The thoughtfully decorated mid-century lobby sets the tone for an exceptionally stylish - and wonderfully comfortable - stay. As you make your way to your room don't forget to stop by The Fieldshop. A new retail concept from Garden & Gun, this thoughtfully edited collection of sporting gear and women's accessories features a selection of wonderful curiosities, many of them designed and made locally.
Historic Charleston Foundation - 40 E Bay St, Charleston, SC 29401
Established in 1947, the Historic Charleston Foundation's dedication to the preservation of the city's architecture has kept the centuries-old architecture of downtown Charleston intact. With house and garden tours offered year-round, design and architecture buffs can step behind the gates of some of Charleston's most majestic sights and homes.
The Skinny Dip - 345 King St, Charleston, SC 29401
We've always loved the city and its penchant for color, deep sense of history and vibrant culture. We also appreciate Charleston's sense of style - Southern sensibility with an artful flair, we'd call it - and think that our classic, colorful staples will be the perfect complement to Charleston wardrobes. The Skinny Dip is the perfect platform for us as we dip our toes, so to speak, in the Charleston market.
Zero George Hotel - 0 George St, Charleston, SC 29401
Comprised of three historic Charleston homes and two carriage houses, there are few getaways more chic than the Zero George Hotel. Our favorite restaurant in town is the Zero Restaurant + Bar, which offers indoor and outdoor seating alongside its tasting menu featuring deliciously decadent Charleston cuisine. On a warm night, the tables spill out into the courtyard and guests and diners alike linger late on the front porch. Stay after dinner for a drink in the elegantly decorated living rooms, where you can lounge until the early hours while taking in the brilliant decor.
