The Classic in Brooklyn2018-02-02
When we launched with our Classic ballerina in 2015, we did so with the vision of creating a shoe that would eliminate the so-called "shoe shuffle," satisfy almost any sartorial need, and answer the age-old question, "Where the heck can I find a beautiful, wear-everywhere shoe?"
The subsequent - and overwhelmingly positive - response to the creation was, in retrospect, perhaps also a reflection of a growing awareness around the value of investing in wardrobe staples. The idea of building a wardrobe on a backbone of versatile, well-made products was gaining momentum and helped Margaux along in its infancy.
As a result, our sartorial convictions were not simply confirmed by our growing customer base - but also informed, even shaped, by it. With first-hand testimonials from customers around the country, we developed a deeper understanding of the value of wear-everywhere products - and an appreciation for how empowering a shoe that didn't compromise design or comfort (and vice versa) really could be.
The latter was proved most evidently by our loyal Gaux Girls: Those customers who came back two, three, five, ten, and in a few cases fourteen (!!!!) times to build their own wardrobes of Classic flats. The genius of the Classic lies in the subtly of its lines and construction. But the fun is in its ability to serve as a colorful foundation upon which our customers can take on their days, style their looks, and build their wardrobes.
So, stay tuned, Gaux Girls! After taking a stroll through classic Brooklyn, and grabbing a coffee at Maison May, we're inspired and working hard to bring you a few new riffs on our Classic - and they might be our best yet.
