There is a gracious quality to Alexandra Michler Kopelman (who goes by Allie) that is hard to capture at a glance. If the fashion industry has a reputation for chilly steeliness, Allie is the opposite: warm and welcoming. This makes sense, given her job at Vogue Magazine, where she is the Director of Fashion Initiatives. Allie’s many responsibilities include running the CFDA/Vogue Fashion Fund, as well as organizing Vogue’s Americans in Paris program, and dressing several attendees for the annual MET Gala. Social and outgoing, it’s not uncommon to see Allie at The New York City Ballet in a gown by fashion darling Christopher John Rogers on one day and at a casual afternoon luncheon at the Waverly Inn hosted by Lingua Franca founder Rochelle McPherson on the next. Either way, Allie’s style effortlessly moves between high-gloss glamor and laid-back charm. Allie lives on the Upper East Side with her husband, the art adviser Will Kopelman, and her new puppy, Archie. The couple are expecting her first child together this June. On a warm spring day, she took us (and Archie) for a walk around Central Park in The Flat Sandal in Chili Suede and shared a few of her favorite things.
