2018: The Year in Review

As we look forward to a fresh year with optimism and excitement, we are reminded that the start of something new is always accompanied by the end of something else. As we think back on 2018, it’s apparent that it was our most transformative year yet. We hit several memorable milestones - like opening a flagship in our hometown and reading about it in The New York Times - and met countless incredible people along the way.

It’s with a huge amount of gratitude to all of you gaux girls that we reflect on the past year and how lucky we are to be doing what we love and creating products we truly believe in. So consider this our digital year-in-review, coming to you just in time as we start to polish the champagne flutes and break out the party hats. Thank you for walking with us this year - we can’t wait to see what 2019 holds.

In January we realized it wasn’t quite time to leave San Francisco’s charming Fillmore Street. We’d planned on keeping our Pacific Heights pop-up shop open for eight weeks, but ultimately stayed  for eight months, welcoming gaux girls from all around the Bay Area (and the world) into our world.

In February the Margaux family expanded as we hired some amazing new talent. The team doubled in size when we brought in fresh faces we now can’t imagine being without.

In March shoppers were introduced to a Margaux closet essential: The Loafer. A sleek take on the classic menswear style, it quickly became a favorite for work and weekend (especially in bold leopard haircalf).

In April we took Margaux uptown, opening a pop-in shop inside Bloomingdale’s iconic 59th Street store.

In May we logged miles visiting our factory in Spain. Along with perfecting existing styles, we worked on some exciting new silhouettes and special projects you’ll start to see next year.

In June we introduced our first warm-weather shoe, The Sandal, in a trio of colors (including bright satins - The perfect comfy-but-chic companion for summer weddings).

In July we made things official. After running multiple pop-up stores around the country, we opened a flagship store on Bleecker Street in the West Village.

In August we brought Margaux to Boston gaux girls with our pop-up in the city’s She-Village, a special cluster of shoppable spaces by female-owned brands.

In September we closed a round of funding, paving a path for even bigger and better things this year - and beyond...

In October a moment we’d been dreaming about from the very beginning came to life: After countless hours of design and technical preparation, we launched The Boot.

In November we found a new home for our growing team at Margaux HQ (and immediately began to think about what snacks we plan to stock in our new kitchen). Stay tuned! We’ll be releasing a behind-the-scenes peek at the new space in January.

In December we finalized details for a very special  collaboration launching in spring 2019. We’re obsessed  - And can’t wait to fill you in next year
